The Montenegrin Foreign Investors Council held its regular Assembly meeting on 29th March, 2017 hosted by our respected Member Societe Generale bank Montenegro. The meeting was very productive, focusing on activities that were done in last 3 months, as well as on the list of the upcoming events. The aim was to hear concrete recommendations from Members how to make work of the MFIC more useful and visible to interested parties.
Special time was dedicated to establishment of new committees and presentation of the existing ICT committee. The idea is to have industry based Committees as the platform that would give us opportunity to directly and concretely communicate our biggest issues and common interests internally but also with different stakeholders. Current management of the MFIC intends to encourage more focused approach towards dealing with the open issues, therefore, forming “specialized” Committees is one of the ways. The Council started with industries that are the most represented within our members, but is open for discussion for any other “industry or topic based committee”. Therefore, the decision for establishing Banking, Tourism and Insurance committees is made, and the first meetings are scheduled.
The Protocol on Joint Cooperation for Improvement of Investment Environment in Podgorica was on the agenda as well that the MFIC signed, among other association from private sector, with the Capital town; and MBA, Union of Employers, and MFIC Initiative for drafting the Strategy on legal regulation concerning the special planning and construction that is in process of developing. Presentation of the redesigned website covering sections such as member area, member news, job vacancies, what they say about us, committees...was very well accepted by Members and will be used as instrument to communicate between the members as well as with the public.
Some of the next steps were announced and supported by present Members, such as upcoming meetings with the European Delegation, Prime Minister, relevant ministers, Ambassadors in Montenegro with the aim to promote activities of the MFIC, collect useful information and get involved in working bodies concerning the amendments and new regulations. The MFIC will become a member of the Government Council for Competitiveness that can be suitable tool first of all to be informed about the plans and activities of the Government and to have possibility to object to it.
In the same format as a year before, in May, the MFIC will publish the Guide to the MFIC 2017 that will include interviews and interesting news from the Government representatives and our Members. Finally, our respected Member Terna is willing to organize onsite visit in May and present overview and main aspects of the project, visiting the substation, terrestrial cable route along hill, and the landing point.
We use this opportunity to thank all the present Members for their time and contribution.
