MFIC with the Prime Minister: Together for better business environment

Montenegrin Foreign Investors Council wants to improve business environment, create conditions for larger presence of investors through a dialogue and partnership with the Government, and this can result in the growth of the Montenegrin economy, creation of new working places and better living standards of the citizens, it was estimated at the meeting between the delegation of the Montenegrin Foreign Investors Council led by its President, Mr. Christoph Schoen and the Prime Minister, Mr. Dusko Markovic.

Prime Minister Markovic said that integration processes into the EU and NATO have provided for the peace and stability and in the following period the focus should be on strengthening of the institutions, economy and business environment. In spite of political instability in Montenegro, it is important that there is an environment in Montenegro where one can work and make profit without obstacles. In that sense, it is important to implement structural reforms, of public administration in the first place, so that it is efficient and service- oriented.

Having reminded that the Council has 34 members with total 8.000 employees, Schoen congratulated for the success made in the process of integrations evaluating it important for Montenegro and the region, especially for investors because of the stability it brings and perspective for improvement of business. Even though the specific recommendations are given in the White Book, the MFIC welcomes the invitation to join the Competition Council.

Prime Minister invited foreign investors to delegate their representatives in the working groups in charge of law amendments to contribute to the improvement of legal framework in which the businesses operate in Montenegro.

Prime Minister Markovic expressed the readiness and openness of the Government for cooperation with foreign investors, emphasizing the importance of direct foreign investments for GDP growth and improvement of living standards of all citizens in Montenegro.
